Statement of Faith

I. The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

II. The Triune God

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal, each possessing all the attributes of deity and deserving our worship and obedience. (Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)

III. Creation and Providence

We believe that God, by His sovereign will and for His glory, created the heavens and the earth and all that is in them out of nothing. He sustains and governs all creatures and events, exercising His sovereign control over all things. (Genesis 1:1; Colossians 1:16-17)

IV. The Fall of Man

We believe that man was created in the image of God, free from sin, but through the disobedience of Adam, all mankind fell into sin. Consequently, all people are born sinners by nature, utterly unable to save themselves or contribute to their salvation. (Genesis 3; Romans 5:12-19)

V. The Person and Work of Christ

We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, who became fully human without ceasing to be fully God. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. He died as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners, was buried, and rose bodily from the dead on the third day. He ascended into heaven, where He intercedes for His people and rules as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (John 1:1-14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 7:25)

VI. Salvation

We believe that salvation is entirely of God’s grace and is received through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone. This grace, freely given by God, is a source of reassurance and gratitude for us. Those whom God has predestined unto life are effectually called, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and justified through faith in Christ. They are sanctified by the Spirit and will be glorified on the last day. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 8:29-30; Philippians 1:6)

VII. The Church

We believe in the universal church, which is the body of Christ, composed of all true believers from every tribe, tongue, and nation. We also believe in the local church, which is a congregation of baptized believers who gather for worship, teaching, fellowship, and the observance of the ordinances (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper). The local church is to be governed by elders and served by deacons, following the pattern set forth in the New Testament. (Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:42; 1 Timothy 3:1-13)

VIII. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe that baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, symbolizing the believer’s union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper commemorates Christ’s sacrifice, in which believers partake of bread and wine as symbols of His body and blood. Both ordinances are to be observed by the church until Christ returns. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

IX. The Last Things

We believe in the personal, visible, and bodily return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. The righteous will be raised to eternal life, and the wicked will be raised to eternal punishment. We believe in the final establishment of new heavens and earth, where God will dwell with His people forever. (Acts 1:11; Revelation 20:11-15; 21:1-4)

X. The Christian Life

We believe that Christians are called to live lives that reflect the holiness of God, growing in grace through the means of grace: the Word, prayer, and the sacraments. This belief in the importance of living in obedience to God’s commands inspires and motivates us. We are to live in obedience to God’s commands, loving Him supremely and their neighbors as themselves. (Matthew 22:37-40; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Galatians 5:22-23)
